Event Description

Almost every lobbyist in DC has to plan a Hill Day for their client. Sometimes its for a large number of grassroots advocates descending upon the Capitol, sometimes it for your client’s Board or leadership. Whether small or large-scale, a successful Hill Day takes planning. It can seem intimidating, especially when your clients may or may not have realistic expectations when it comes to who they will meet (not always the Member of Congress) and what will come of it (no, they won’t always cosponsor as soon as you ask).

The first of our “How To” events will feature three speakers who can share how to make your planning and execution of the event run as smoothly as possible. A scheduler will share tips on what it takes to get a meeting with a Member of Congress (vs. staff only), what information they need ahead of time, and the best way to contact them (hint: it is usually by email). A experienced Hill staffer will share what kinds of leave-behinds and conversations have the biggest impact, what she wants to hear about when meeting with constituents, and the best ways to follow up with her to keep the issue front-of-mind. An experienced lobbyist will share do’s and don’ts of planning, executing, managing participants, and following up on a successful Hill Day.

We are all sure to learn a lot from these seasoned professionals. Join us as we swap best practices and learn from one another. Even those of us who have done it over and over can learn some new tricks.

Please bring a brown bag lunch. Dessert and beverages will be provided.
